The colt who took Charlie to the Classics
From Southwell to Newmarket
Saxon Warrior × Termagant (Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes)
Padraig Dawn made an immediate impression on his debut, winning over seven furlongs at Southwell to give Charlie Pike the first victory of his training career. He followed up with a narrow second, beaten just a neck, in the Listed Burradon Stakes at Newcastle on All-Weather Finals day.
Two runs were enough to convince his connections. The colt was supplemented for the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, and holds a St James’s Palace Stakes entry at Royal Ascot — among the season’s elite three-year-old milers.
Owned by Gary Gillies & Michelin-starred chef Niall Keating — the colt is named after Keating’s parents.

The most accessible way into the yard is through a Racing Club syndicate — affordable shares in real racehorses, with stable visits, raceday badges and the thrill of a runner to call your own. For sole or partnership ownership, Charlie would be glad to talk.
